Tūhono Finals

image

Ngā mihi nui ki a Te Kura o te Mātāpuna Kapa Haka Roopu!

Our kapa haka group represented Isleworth School in the 2018 Tūhono Finals last Friday evening.   Congratulations to all of the schools who performed and placed on the night, particularly St Andrews School who was the overall winner.

The goal of the Tūhono Competition is to improve and lift the standard of kapa haka in Ōtautahi.  Whilst we didn't come away with a win, we are immensely proud of our students.  They bravely changed up their routine and treated their audience to a beautiful waiata-tira, an energetic waiata-a-ringa and heartfelt haka.  Achievements happen in many ways, and we can be proud of the wairua and whanaungatanga our group has shared.

Ngā mihi to our Kaiwhakaako, Matua Norm and Matua Maaka who grew the talent of our group throughout the year.  A special acknowledgment goes out to Matua Nathan Riki from Breens Intermediate, who played for us on the night.  We are extremely grateful for the time, effort and expertise Nathan put into our practices.

Finally, a huge thank you goes out to our whānau and kaiako, who gave up their Friday evenings to support our ākonga.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari, he toa takitini

Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.
