International Day at Isleworth School

On Monday we held an International Day for our Isleworth School students. It was marvelous to see such a diverse range of countries represented within our school that, I'm sure, further encouraged both an appreciation and love of our school friend's identity. "Ka pai" to those students (with the help of their parents) who represented their countries to the fullest! Here are a few photos for you to enjoy...

Team Waipuna will be swimming as of Monday 12th November.

We will be swimming each day until the end of term, so please ensure that your child brings their NAMED togs, towel and goggles if necessary.

The students from Room 13 have written fantastic personal recounts of the events that took place at our 'Jack and the Beanstalk' school production. We even had the principal read them back to us which made our writing feel extra special!

Many thanks for all of your kind donations for Daffodil Day from Room 13.

Daffodil Celebration

Today Room 3 and 12 made daffodils for buddy class. Check out our lovely artwork. A great example of Tuakana Teina.

As teachers came in to school today this is where things stand as a result of our previous strike.

Our 'Jack and the Beanstalk' production is coming up fast (September 10th) and we need a specific prop!

You folks are the BEST! Thank you so much for what we have received in the way of toys and games. Your generosity is GREATLY APPRECIATED. If you still have some items that you think might be useful then please don't hesitate to drop something in to me in Room 13 anytime. All will be put to good use! Thank you once again.

Team Waipuna's Discovery Time

The sun was shining so why not get out and discover through play?! There were some really good demonstrations of working well together today and our students had lots of fun exploring, creating and role playing. Just take a look...

Monster Bookmarks Finished with our Buddy Class

Over the passed two weeks Room's 13 & 3 have been working together to make monster bookmarks for our favourite books.

Tomorrow is Wig Wednesday!

Tomorrow is a Mufti Day with a Gold Coin donation for the Child Cancer Foundation. If you don't have a wig at home please be as creative as you can with your hair to show your support!

Wet Day Discovery

Today during Discovery it was wet so some children learnt to draw dragons. Don't they look great!

National Simultaneous Storytime 2018

Today Team Waipuna did their bit to further promote reading - and Reading Week - by joining the LIANZA in a nationwide reading of 'Hickory Dickory Dash' which was held at 1:00pm today.

The children in Waipuna thoroughly enjoyed being read to by some fantastic parents who popped in this morning for "Love to Read" Day. Thanks for joining us!!

Bruised and Beautiful Apples

Today the Waipuna Team talked about how words can hurt. We said nice compliments to an apple and then unkind words to another. When we cut into the apples we saw that while on the outside the apples looked the same on the inside the bruises showed. We are learning how important it is to think about what we say!

We might have a school yard full of wizards, caterpillars, fairies, ogres, pigs, pugs, grannies and more next Friday!

What will you come as? Dress up as your favourite book character on Friday 25th May. There will be a grand parade after the roll is taken. There will be prizes!

For "Bullying Free NZ week" the Waipuna children watched a video called "Oat the Goat". Then we wrote our ideas on a piece of paper for how we can be kind to others. We will piece these together to be a "Chain of Kindness". We are learning how important our words and actions are!

Waipuna Looking Good on Pink Shirt Day!

To kick off Bullying Free NZ week we wore pink shirts (or anything pink to show our support) on Monday. This year’s theme, Let’s Talk About It!, aims to encourage conversations between children and young people and the adults around them, and to get the whole community talking about the issue. We will be doing some fun activities this week to support this.
